Tara A. Nealey, Ph.D., J.D.
Tara is Biotactica's Vice President for Commercialization and a registered patent attorney who brings to Biotactica her comprehensive training and background in the life sciences. Her scientific work has been published in leading peer-reviewed publications such as Nature and Journal of Neuroscience. As a patent attorney, she has counseled clients in a wide range of life science technologies, including pharmaceuticals, medical devices, bioassays and materials including gene and protein isolation and purification methods, nucleic acid synthesis, RNAi molecules and related technology, viral vectors, and a wide range of other biotechnologies and medical innovations.
Tara graduated from Brown University with a major in Biomedical Ethics. She worked as a research assistant in the Hematology-Oncology Department at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence Rhode Island before moving to the University of Rochester School of Medicine where she earned her Ph.D. in Physiology under Dr. John H.R. Maunsell. After being awarded a National Research Service Award from the National Institutes of Health, she conducted postdoctoral research at Harvard University-Massachusetts General Hospital. She then earned her license as a patent agent and after earning her law degree magna cum laude from St. Louis University School of Law, became a patent attorney. Tara has counseled universities and both large and small corporations on various intellectual property matters, and comes to Biotactica from a prominent international law firm.
